Manipulation

 Manipulation Evaluation

Creating my Manipulation project was a fun process with its ups and downs for me. I feel like line art and creating the same drawings but with slight changes is a challenge for me. Traditional animation is an area I feel like I am very weak in. This is evident in my final short movie. While I did understand all the animation principles mentally, actually making them come to life on the paper was another ball game. I have come to respect traditional animators more now as I now see just how much work actually goes in to making even short animations. Having to always keep an eye on proportions and timings was frustrating at times and many pages were thrown away where I drew incorrect lines. I did find that when I started the animations simpler and then added detail it really helped and will concentrate on that more in the future if I decide to attempt another traditional animation. My biggest upset was the sense of not getting much work done in such a long period. When I had just a couple seconds animated in the most basic way and for it to take such long time to complete was a bit frustrating. Overall I think animating traditionally really helped me understand timing more and I can take what I have learned in it to other areas of animation like digital 2D and 3D animation.
